Your suit size is based on your chest and height measurements. For example, if your chest measures 44" you would wear a size 44 suit. How tall you are will determine whether you need a Short (S), Regular (R), or a Long (L) suit. Please refer to the chart below to determine your suit size:
Measuring Your Chest and Waist
With your arms down at your side, take a tape measure and place it level under your arms and completely around your body (don't hold your breath). Be sure to cross over the shoulder blades and the fullest part of your chest. Remember, suit sizes are equal to your chest size. If you are measuring in centimeters divide by 2.54 to obtain the measurement in inches. If your waist is bigger than your chest, use your waist size to determine the suit size. The jacket will need several alterations in order to fit you properly if your waist size is bigger than your chest size.
Notes:
  • The actual chest measurement of a suit is typically 2 inches larger than the size of the suit to allow room for adequate movement.
  • The European size of a suit is 10 more than the US Size. For example, a size 50 (European) is equivalent to a size 40 (US).
  • Typically the waist size of a suit pant is 6" less than the suit size. For example, a suit size 42 jacket comes with a 36" waist pant.

Alteration Notes:
  • A jacket that is too big at the waist can be easily taken in by a tailor
  • If your slacks are 1-2" too big or small a tailor can easily taken them in or out. If the slacks are over 2" too big, a tailor can re-cut them to fit (typically more expensive).
Pants
Measuring Your Waist
Measuring Your Inseam & Waist
The easiest way to get an accurate measurement for your pants size is to use a pair of pants that fit you well. Measure from the top of the inner pant leg seam to the opening at the bottom of the pant leg. The number of inches is the inseam length, rounded to the nearest half inch. Measure the waist of the nice fitting pants by laying them on a flat surface, measure across the waist and multiply by two.

Dress Shirts
Your dress shirt size is determined by your neck size and arm length. For example, a 16.5 x 34/35 dress shirt will fit a man whose neck size is 16 1/2 inches and whose arm length is 34 to 35 inches.
