Security and Updates?

Hi - great OS and enjoying the appreciable increase in speed over KDE.

Just one concern. When I first started updating in response to notifications that updates were available, I was required to enter my password. That now seems to have stopped? I have installed updates on at least 5-6 occasions in the last couple of weeks and never once been asked for my PW.

BTW - If I use Synaptic instead of your Update software I *always* get asked for my PW even if it is a single lib file. I know that various update programmes actually use Synaptic in the background. Not sure if this is the case here, but I wonder if Synaptic is there somewhere why there is no PW request.

I am not logged in as root or anything like that.

Richard
